A Note from the Nurse

Parents-

As the weather temperatures continue to remain well below freezing in our area, we kindly ask for your support in ensuring your students come to school dressed appropriately for the temperature. I understand that clothing choices can sometimes be challenging at this age. However, the amount of summer attire we have seen this week has been quite surprising considering the current conditions. If your student tells you that I have asked them to put a t-shirt, long sleeved shirt or sweatshirt on when finding them in tank shirts or other warm weather attire, it is true.

To help students stay comfortable throughout the day, we encourage minimally a t shirt or long-sleeved t shirt or sweatshirts with sweatpants or other full-length pants. Dressing in layers is also an option. Please note that there are no consistently "hot" areas in this building as some of the kids have tried to tell me with the possible exception of the gym.

If you have any questions or would like additional guidance, please refer to the dress code outlined in the student handbook on page 10.

Thanks!

Book Love Donation & Service Project

In this lovely month of February, if there are any pre-K through grade 8 picture or chapter books that your child or family has enjoyed and you would love for someone else to enjoy the story, please consider sending them in with your child to donate to the book love donation drive. We will be collecting books the entire month of February and this year's goal is to have 2,026 books donated. So far, we have close to 200!

In the past eight years, we have donated 25,026 books!  That is almost the size of two TEMS libraries!

We donate the books to Reading Recycled, an organization whose goal is to put books in the hands of every child, specifically in the School District of Philadelphia.

A Note from Student Council

Dear Parents,

As you may know, T/E Middle School Student Council is hosting the annual Student-Faculty Basketball Game, where eighth grade basketball players play against the faculty. This year, the game will be held on Friday, February 20th starting at 3:30 in the Large Gym.  To help with the fundraising, we need snacks/drinks to sell to the crowd at the game. This year our profits will go to TEMS students.  We plan to use the money towards our 8th grade gift to the school, bringing down the cost of the 8th grade Hershey Park trip and helping to fund some of the second semester student activities.

Student Council is asking any parents/students who are interested, to please contribute drinks/snacks for the annual game. We’re looking for pre-packaged snacks such as TastyCakes, Frito Lay snack bags of chips, rice crispy treats, soft pretzels, etc.

Due to food allergies and medical concerns, all donated food served must be commercially prepared with an ingredients label.  Also, please make sure that all contributions are NUT FREE-no peanuts, nuts or peanut oil!  For drinks, we would like juice boxes or mini-water bottles. All contributions should be dropped off in Room 224 any day up until the morning of February 20th.

If you plan to donate, please fill out this form This will help us to plan on any additional food and/or drink purchases we need to make to be ready for the game. Thank you in advance for your contributions.

 Sincerely,

TEMS Student Council
