Hello TEMS Families!

As we step into this new month, we’re excited to celebrate the many ways our school community continues to learn, connect, and grow together. From special events and acts of kindness to the everyday moments that make our school shine, February is filled with opportunities to support our students and appreciate the staff and volunteers who make it all possible. Thank you for being an essential part of our PTO community—we couldn’t do this without you!

A Note from the Nurse

Parents-

As the weather temperatures continue to remain well below freezing in our area, we kindly ask for your support in ensuring your students come to school dressed appropriately for the temperature. I understand that clothing choices can sometimes be challenging at this age. However, the amount of summer attire we have seen this week has been quite surprising considering the current conditions. If your student tells you that I have asked them to put a t-shirt, long sleeved shirt or sweatshirt on when finding them in tank shirts or other warm weather attire, it is true.

To help students stay comfortable throughout the day, we encourage minimally a t shirt or long-sleeved t shirt or sweatshirts with sweatpants or other full-length pants. Dressing in layers is also an option. Please note that there are no consistently "hot" areas in this building as some of the kids have tried to tell me with the possible exception of the gym.

If you have any questions or would like additional guidance, please refer to the dress code outlined in the student handbook on page 10.

Thanks!

Summary of Ad Hoc Redistricting Committee Meeting

The Ad Hoc Redistricting Committee met on January 20, 2026 to continue planning for the opening of Bear Hill Elementary School (BHES) in August 2027. The meeting began with a review of the redistricting timeline and guiding parameters that will shape the new attendance boundaries across all six elementary schools. This work aligns with the District’s goal of creating six enrollment areas that preserve neighborhood integrity, support efficient transportation, and ensure that all students benefit from TESD’s Elementary Blueprint for Instruction, which standardizes educational experiences across District elementary schools. Click here for the meeting agenda and presentation slides.

During the meeting, administrators outlined the redistricting timeline, which began in 2024 and will conclude with a School Board vote in late 2026 or early 2027. The Committee discussed two redistricting approaches: the parity model, which distributes students evenly among the six schools but would require changes to middle school attendance areas; and the proportional model, which bases enrollment on each school’s classroom inventory.

The Ad Hoc Redistricting Committee will meet next on February 4, 2026 to review the prior redistricting process and establish criteria for selecting the Redistricting Steering Committee members.

TESD has created an Ad Hoc Redistricting Committee web page that includes prior meeting summaries and links to meeting information. Questions regarding the redistricting process may be sent to redistricting@tesd.net. The District encourages community members to attend future meetings, provide feedback, and stay engaged in the redistricting process.

Author Visit - Dana Kramaroff

The PTO sponsored author visit was a tremendous success! We extend our sincere appreciation to our Cultural Arts Author Visit Chair and to all the school staff whose support made this event possible.
