Thanks from the PTO!

Thank you to the parents who joined us for the April PTO Meet & Greet at TEMS.

Your presence helped make the meeting truly warm and meaningful as we shared more about the PTO and the many ways to get involved. We look forward to working with you.

If you weren’t able to attend but would like to learn more or find ways to participate, please reach out to us at temspto@gmail.com. There are many ways to contribute—even if you can’t attend meetings in person.

PSSA Testing Starts This Week

In preparation for PSSA testing, please remind your student to bring their laptop and charger to school on Monday. As we did last year, students will leave their laptops at school during the PSSA testing.

At the end of the day on Monday, 4/20, students will leave their laptops charging in their homeroom nightly. Students must bring their own chargers. We will continue this process on 4/21, 4/22, and 4/23. After testing on Thursday, students can take their laptops with them.  We will start this process again on Mon 4/27, Tues 4/28, and Wed 4/29 (Grades 6 & 7) and Mon 4/27, Tues 4/28, Wed 4/29, Thurs 4/30, and Fri 5/1 (Grades 5 & 8).

Thank you for your help reminding students to bring their laptop and charger to school on Monday.

A Note from the Nurse

Friendly reminders:

For any medication (daily, inhalers, epi pens, as needed, etc..) you brought in for your student this year, medication pickup will be June 9 through June 12. Any medications remaining after June 12th will be disposed of as per school district policy. Please set an alarm or reminder in your phone to come get your student’s meds.

Parents of 7th graders in the fall of 2026:

PA school health law requires that all students MUST have the following vaccinations PRIOR to the first day of 7th grade or risk exclusion:

  • 1 dose of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap)
  • 1 dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV)

If your student has NOT had these vaccinations but is not due for a well visit over the summer, please call your health care providers office ASAP & request a nurse visit specifically for immunizations. These appointments are typically quicker to schedule & are often at no added cost to you. Other options to obtain these vaccinations include the Chester County Health Department Immunization Clinic, many area Urgent Care locations, or clinics within pharmacies. Please call ahead to make sure the needed vaccine serum is available prior to going.

Additionally, a dental examination is also state required for 7th grade. Dental examinations must be done within one year. Forms to be completed by your family dentist can be found on the TESD website under Student Health Services then loaded into the Power School parent portal under forms. Please see information below about the Children's Dental Clinic should you need a provider.

Parents of 6th graders in the fall of 2026:

PA school health law states that children entering 6th grade must have a physical examination completed within one year & on file in the nurse’s office. Please make appointments ASAP. If your student is age 11 or older, please request that MCV & Tdap vaccinations be given at that appointment. Forms to be completed by your health care practitioner can be found on the TESD website under Student Health Services.

All health information for students should be loaded to Power School via the parent portal. Look for the heading “Forms” on the left-hand side.  If you are unable to load your report into Power School, it can be sent via email to coaryl@tesd.net. I will be checking my email throughout the summer.

Thank you for your help in getting all the required health information to the nurse in a timely fashion.

Thanks-

Leigh Ann

8th Grade Yard Signs

Dear Grade 8 Parents,

As we move further into this exciting final stretch of the school year, we wanted to share a quick update with you.

Our Grade 8 Recognition Chair is currently working on ironing out the details for this year’s yard signs. These signs will be a great way to celebrate our students and their accomplishments. Please keep an eye out for an upcoming blast with more information on how to order, along with additional important Grade 8 dates and details.

We appreciate your patience as plans come together and look forward to celebrating our students in the weeks ahead.

Earth Day April 22

In the spirit Earth Day, let’s consider our children’s long-term welfare by living our lives a bit more “green”- that is, reducing our waste and carbon footprint – so that the earth is a great place to be for our kids and grandkids. The good news? Living a bit more sustainably doesn’t have to be a huge lifestyle overhaul.

Little things—like flipping off the lights when you leave a room or unplugging chargers when they’re not in use—are super easy and actually make a difference. It just takes a few minutes of awareness each day, but over time (and especially when more of us get on board), those small efforts really add up.

For several easy ways to be green, visit: http://www.50waystohelp.com/

And don't forget - you can recycle household items right in the TEMS lobby!
