SUBJECT: MLK Day: A Day to Serve—Join Us!

Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by remembering that MLK Day is a National Day of Service—a day to give back, take action, and strengthen our communities.

While Dr. King’s vision was global, its impact begins locally. In yesterday’s Sunday Blast, we shared several ways for families to get involved in the wider community. We hope you’ll also consider a way to serve right here at home: supporting the TEMS PTO.

Why the PTO matters The PTO is a 100% volunteer-led organization that supports our school, staff, and students. We fund and organize the "extras" that the district budget doesn't cover—including cultural arts, classroom enhancements, community outreach, and social events.

Support that fits your life We know how busy life is, so we offer ways to get involved that fit every schedule and comfort level. Whether you have an hour or an afternoon, there is a place for you:

  • The "One-Hour" Volunteer: Help at a single event, like checking in guests or handing out snacks.

  • The "At-Home" Helper: Help with "behind-the-scenes" tasks like website maintenance, coordinating sign-ups, identifying cultural art programming opportunities or writing content—all on your own time.

  • The Future Leader: Several board positions and committee co-chair roles will be open for next year. It’s a great way to have a direct voice in school programming.

  • The Supporter: If you can't donate time right now, you can still make a massive impact simply by being an active PTO member. Your donations and participation in events directly fund the programs our students love.

If you’d like to learn more or find a role that works for you, please email us at temspto@gmail.com. We’d love to hear from you!

To the parents and caregivers who already volunteer: thank you. We deeply appreciate the time, energy, and heart you pour into our school.

Happy MLK Day, and thank you for being part of our community!
