Happy Thanksgiving! Here are a few reminders.

The Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences at T/E Middle School will be held  Tuesday, November 25 (1:15 – 3:10 pm) and Monday, December 1. (12:00 – 7:35 pm).

When you come to TEMS for the conference, please keep in mind the TEMS Green corner for your recycling needs and if you have any middle school books for book swap then it's a perfect opportunity to drop those off!

  • Community News

The 2025 TEMS Book Swap collection is underway! We are calling all Bulldogs to gather your gently used middle school– and young adult–level books. You can drop off your books in bins at the front and back entrances of the school.

On December 17 & 18, students will have the opportunity to "shop" for books to take home and read during lunch and activity. There is no cost! This is a great chance to clean out your bookshelves and help our students discover new books to enjoy over winter break.

Drop-off ends: Tuesday, December 16
Book Swap browsing days: During lunch and activity on December 17 & 18

We need volunteers to help sort books on Tuesday, 12/16, and to supervise the Book Swap during lunch and activity periods on 12/17 and 12/18. If you are able to help, please sign up here: TEMS: Book Swap Volunteers!  or contact Kerry Reed at kerrymcnabbreed@gmail.com or Jess Melniczak at jmelniczak@gmail.com.

The TEMS School Store is Back for the 2025-2026 School Year!

The TEMS School Store is open! The mobile cart will be in the cafeteria during 5th and 6th grade lunches on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The store is cash only, with items ranging from $0.25 to $5.00. Available products include fun school supplies and locker décor. Inventory will change over time as the store finds its rhythm.

The store relies on parent volunteers to operate from 11:45am to 1:00pm. Volunteers are responsible for setting up the cart, selling items, handling cash and restoring the cart. It’s a great opportunity to volunteer at the school and help out the TEMS PTO! Volunteers must have TESD background clearances.

A Note from the Nurse

When to keep your child home from school

Sometimes it can be challenging to determine when your student should stay home from school and when it is appropriate for them to return following an illness. If you are in doubt, please do not hesitate to contact your school nurse for guidance.

If your student exhibits one or more of the following symptoms, they should stay home for at least one day:

    • Fever (oral/tympanic equal to or greater than 100.4°F or axillary/temporal  greater than 99.5°F)
    • Chills
    • Body aches/fatigue
    • Runny nose or nasal congestion
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
    • Sore throat
    • Frequent cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

Students may return to school once their symptoms have improved AND they have been fever-free without fever-reducing medication for at least 24 hours. Additionally, they need to have not vomited for at least 24 hours.

If your student has been diagnosed with either of the following, they can return to school once they have completed 24-hours of the prescribed treatment:

    • Strep Throat
    • Pink eye (bacterial conjunctivitis)

If your student tests positive for influenza, they may return to school:

    • when their symptoms have improved AND they have been fever-free without fever-reducing medication for at least 24 hours.
