PTO Meet and Greet

The April PTO Meeting will be a Meet & Greet on Thursday, April 24th, at 9:30 AM at TEMS, and we would love for you to join us!

Whether you're a new family joining TEMS next fall or a returning family looking to get more involved, this is a wonderful opportunity to connect. Upon arrival, please check in at the school’s front office, and the staff will direct you to our meeting location.

That morning, we will hold a brief meeting to give a window into our organization's operation, and then allow time for mixing and chatting. We do expect vacancies in some PTO positions next year and we would love to gauge interest and begin to welcome you into the TEMS community. This will be a great preview for future TEMS parents/caregivers and will help the current PTO plan for the coming school year. We look forward to seeing you!

PSSA Testing Begins

The Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) includes standardized tests for public school students in Pennsylvania. This year's testing schedule for TEMS is as follows:

  • April 22–24, 8:45 am - 11:15 am: English/Language Arts (Grades 5–8)
  • April 29–April 30, 8:45 am - 11:15 am: Mathematics (Grades 5–8)
  • May 1–May 2, 9:20 am - 11:00 am: Science (Grades 5 & 8)

The school asks for your support by ensuring your child gets plenty of rest each night, eats a healthy breakfast each morning, and receives gentle reminders to take their time and do their best during testing. Thank you for your continued support at home.

Please refer to the official email sent to parents on March 27th for full details and FAQ's.

PSSA reminders for Grade 5 Parents

Please pay attention to the following letter from TEMS!

Parents/Guardians of 5th grade students,

As you may already be aware, this year, 5th graders will take the PSSA assessment online. The first week of testing will begin on Tuesday, April 22nd through Thursday, April 24th. Testing will continue the following week, on Tuesday, April 29th through Friday, May 2nd, with Mathematics and Science.

We are asking for your support from home ensuring that your child brings the following to school on Monday, April 21st:

  • Their laptop with full charge, labeled with their name on it.
  • Their laptop charger labeled with their name on it.

Students will leave their laptops in their homeroom class, plugged in with their own chargers overnight the days before testing. In addition, reminders that were shared during the letter to parents earlier this month are just as important, including:

  • Adequate sleep.
  • Eating a healthy breakfast.
  • Reminders to take their time during testing.

Thank you for your support at home as we prepare for the PSSA assessment.

Volunteering at the TEMS School Store Cart is So Much Fun!

Ever wonder what you kids are doing during school lunch?  Who they are sitting with?  When they get to eat in the outdoor courtyard?  Volunteer to sell the hottest trinkets and school supplies at TEMS, and you can get all the lunchroom tea!

The TEMS School Store Cart operates in the Cafeteria during 5th and 6th grade lunches on Tuesdays and Thursdays!  The store is cash only, with items ranging from $0.50 to $3.00. Available products include fun school supplies (pencils, erasers, earbuds, pencil lead, sharpeners, etc.) and small trinkets (fidgets, locker magnets, scented putty, etc.).  New items are introduced every month!

Parent Volunteers Needed!
The store relies on parent volunteers to operate from 11:45 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Volunteers are responsible for setting up the cart, selling items, handling cash, and storing the cart back into the PTO Closet. The store can only open when one or two parents sign up. Don’t miss this chance to see your kids in action during lunch while making a difference for the TEMS PTO—sign up today!

Earth Day is Apr 22nd!

In the spirit Earth Day, let’s consider our children’s long-term welfare by living our lives a bit more “green”- that is, reducing our waste and carbon footprint – so that the earth is a great place to be for our kids and grandkids. The good news? Living a bit more sustainably doesn’t have to be a huge lifestyle overhaul.

Little things—like flipping off the lights when you leave a room or unplugging chargers when they’re not in use—are super easy and actually make a difference. It just takes a few minutes of awareness each day, but over time (and especially when more of us get on board), those small efforts really add up.

Coin Collection Challenge in support of Autism Acceptance Month

April is Autism Acceptance Month and all TESD schools will be collaborating to show their support for autism acceptance by running an in-school coin collection challenge (notes and coins of all denominations will be accepted). All proceeds will be donated to the Eagles Autism Foundation. Collection boxes will be placed in the lunchroom and main office so please send in your spare change throughout April. You can also donate by scanning the QR code below. It will direct you to a generic Eagles Autism Foundation (EAF) page. However, once you donate, it notes that the donation was on behalf of TESD.
