Dear TEMS Families,

As you know, the TEMS PTO is a nonprofit organization governed by a set of by-laws. Every few years, these by-laws are reviewed and updated as needed. The board has completed its review of the existing by-laws and is now preparing to finalize them with a vote.

We invite you to review the proposed by-laws and share any feedback. Please follow this LINK to access the document, and feel free to email temspto@gmail.com with any questions, concerns, or suggested updates.

Thank you for your time and involvement!

On Friday, February 21st, at 3:30 PM in the Large Gym, 8th-grade basketball players will take on our faculty in this exciting tradition.

Student Council needs your help! They are collecting pre-packaged, nut-free snacks (chips, Rice Krispie Treats, soft pretzels, etc.) and drinks (juice boxes, mini water bottles) for their fundraiser to support the 8th-grade gift, Hershey Park trip, and other activities. All donations must be nut-free and commercially prepared with ingredient labels.

Drop off donations to Room 224 by the morning of February 21st. Let us know what you’ll donate by completing the form on the TEMS Student Council Schoology page. This helps plan any additional necessary purchases for the event. Here is the LINK to the form for your convenience.

Thank you for supporting this cherished tradition and our students!

Donate Books for Book Love!

From February 3–28, TEMS is collecting gently used books for Reading Recycled—and we need your help! We’re aiming to gather 2,025 books for kids from preschool to high school.

Drop off your book donations in the collection boxes at any school entrance or at the front office. Every book makes a difference—thank you for supporting young readers!

Note from the Nurse's Office

-Please encourage your student to eat breakfast or remind them that everyone has access to free breakfast once they arrive at school. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it fuels their bodies & minds. If they are running late or not much of a breakfast eater, please put an extra snack or bar in their lunch.

-The nurse’s office would greatly appreciate any donations of pretzels or animal crackers in PLASTIC containers (think BJ’s, Costco or bulk packaging) versus bags please. More kids than ever have been coming in requesting snacks.

-Reminder: all 6th graders are required have a physical exam & all 7th graders are required to have a dental exam within the last year on file in the nurse’s office. Email reminders will be going out in the next few weeks ONLY to those who we do not have. If you get an email from the nurse, please upload your student’s most recent physical or dental documentation to Power School or email to coaryl@tesd.net.

-The Student Health Services page on the TESD district site under departments has been updated. Please look there for guidance about when to keep your student home from school, immunizations, medication administration at school & other health related information.

SAVE THE DATE! 5th and 6th Grade Bowling Social on Friday, March 7, 1-2:30

The TEMS PTO invites all 5th and 6th graders to a Bowling Social on Friday, March 7, 1 pm to 2:30 pm, at Devon Lanes!  The $20 admission ticket includes bowling, pizza, water, and a snack.  This event is held on a regularly-scheduled half day for parent-teacher conferences, and it is a drop off event for students.  Tickets will be limited to only 144 students so everyone has an opportunity to bowl.  Tickets will be sold online starting February 16, and tickets will not be sold at the door. Volunteers are also needed to help serve pizza, check students in, supervise students, etc.  Stay tuned for more details about ticket sales and volunteer signup!

From January 31 to February 12, share your feedback on the final name options via the District’s online form. Last few days until Feb12th, your voice matters in shaping our community’s choice—click here to submit.

The Ad Hoc Public Information Committee will meet on March 18, 2025, to recommend a final name to the School Board. The final decision will be considered at the March 24, 2025 Regular School Board Meeting.

We encourage you to share your thoughts by:

  • Completing the online feedback form on the District website starting on January 31, 2025.

Stoga Theatre presents: Chicago, Teen Edition

Travel back with us to the roaring twenties in Chicago, where chorus girl Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap until he finds out he’s been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie, and another merry murderess, Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the American Dream: fame, fortune, and acquittal.

One of the longest-running musicals on Broadway, Chicago has been nominated for and won a slew of Tony® and Drama Desk Awards. The Teen edition is adapted from Kander & Ebb's legendary and award-winning musical and features well-known and beloved songs, including “All That Jazz,” “Cell Block Tango,” “Funny Honey” and “Razzle Dazzle.”
