Welcome Committee Coffee

We warmly invite new families to the district to join the Welcoming Committee Meeting on Friday, January 24th, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Matines Café, located at 757 Lancaster Ave, Wayne.

This Friday, the CHS Welcoming Committee chairs, along with several CHS parents and experienced 8th-grade parents, will be in attendance. If you are a first-time 8th-grade parent looking for insights about the transition to high school, we welcome you to drop by.

There’s no set agenda—come and go as it suits your schedule during the meeting. Whether you’re new to the community or a longtime TEMS parent, we’d love for you to join us and meet fellow parents.

If you have any questions or would like to RSVP, please contact Karen at karenzamperini@gmail.com or Deepti at deepti_mails@yahoo.com

MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. It is a defining moment each year when Americans across the country step up to make communities more equitable and take action to create the Beloved Community of Dr. King’s dream.

On Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, and the days surrounding, the TEMS PTO invites families to:

  • engage with your community and create constructive action;
  • act on Dr. King’s legacy of social justice and equity; and
  • recommit by volunteering to serve others.

We’ve curated some local volunteer opportunities for you and your family to consider this MLK weekend. Please plan to confirm the dates, times and all relevant details, including the need to pre-register, before participating in any of the below listed events as specifics may have changed and some events require pre-registration.

Thanks to the TEMS PTO Cultural Arts Committee, on January 24th, all 5th and 6th grade students will have the incredible opportunity to meet the renowned author Padma Venkatraman at TEMS, where she will introduce her latest book, Safe Harbor.

About Safe Harbor:

An uplifting novel in verse about an immigrant girl adjusting to life in the US through her love of nature, music, and poetry, by the award-winning author of The Bridge Home, Padma Venkatraman.

The Book Swap was a huge success!!

A big thank you to all the families who donated books for the event—your generosity made it possible. We’re also incredibly grateful to our local libraries for their contributions. And, of course, a special shoutout to our amazing parent volunteers who helped run the event—your support was invaluable!
