Exciting News! All 5th & 6th grade students will meet the very popular author, Padma Venkatraman when she visits TEMS on January 24th to introduce her new book, Safe Harbor.

Parents of students in all grades are invited to purchase a personalized, signed copy of her newest book by January 10th. Assuming the PTO sells 25 or more books, this Author Visit is at no cost to the PTO so we greatly appreciate your participation to offset our expenses. Safe Harbor will be a great addition to your child’s library!

About Safe Harbor:

An uplifting novel in verse about an immigrant girl adjusting to life in the US through her love of nature, music, and poetry, by the award-winning author of The Bridge Home, Padma Venkatraman.

Welcome Committee Coffee

We warmly invite you to join the Welcoming Committee for a casual get-together on Friday, January 24th, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Matines Café, 757 Lancaster Ave, Wayne

These gatherings are a relaxed way to meet each other, share ideas, and answer any questions you might have. There’s no set agenda—just drop in whenever it works for you during the meeting. Whether you’re a new face or a longtime TEMS parent, we’d love for you to stop by and connect with fellow parents.

If you have any questions or would like to RSVP, feel free to reach out to Karen at karenzamperini@gmail.com.

MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. It is a defining moment each year when Americans across the country step up to make communities more equitable and take action to create the Beloved Community of Dr. King’s dream.

On Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, and the days surrounding, the TEMS PTO invites families to:

  • engage with your community and create constructive action;
  • act on Dr. King’s legacy of social justice and equity; and
  • recommit by volunteering to serve others.

We’ve curated some local volunteer opportunities for you and your family to consider this MLK weekend. Please plan to confirm the dates, times and all relevant details, including the need to pre-register, before participating in any of the below listed events as specifics may have changed and some events require pre-registration.

CARE (Child Assistance Resources & Education)

If your child is having any trouble either in school or at home, our CARE (Child Assistance Resources & Education) team is here to help. The CARE team consists of a principal, counselors, nurse, school psychologist, mental health specialist, classroom teachers and community agency staff.  The team works to identify issues which pose a barrier to a students’ learning and school success.  If you or someone else notices your student is struggling in an academic, behavior, or social-emotional area of development, you can ask the CARE team to help.

Teachers, parents and students who observe concerning behavior in a student are encouraged to reach out to a CARE team member and submit a referral. Referrals can also be made using this link.  All referrals are confidential and once one has been made, the team will work together to gather information, consult with the parent and student and make recommendations for additional support.
