Nov 24th Newsletter

Cycle Day 2
Monday Nov 25th, 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As Thanksgiving approaches, we want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support of the PTO and our school community.

Did you know? The first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924 featured live animals from the Central Park Zoo instead of the giant balloons we see today!

Here are a few reminders to keep in mind for the upcoming week:

  • Tuesday, November 26th is a half-day, with dismissal starting at 12:17 PM.
  • Thanksgiving Break runs from Wednesday, November 27th through Friday, November 29th.
  • Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences at T/E Middle School are scheduled for Tuesday, November 26th, and Monday, December 2nd.

When you visit TEMS for conferences, be sure to stop by the TEMS Green Corner to take care of your recycling needs—details are in the flyer included in this blast. It’s also a great opportunity to drop off any middle school books you’d like to contribute to the Book Swap. Your donations help keep the Book Swap thriving and ensure more students can discover great reads—thank you for participating!

Wishing you all a joyful Thanksgiving filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories!

For just $30, each bundle includes 2 tickets redeemable at any Regal location nationwide. It’s a win-win: enjoy great movies while helping raise funds for our school! This exciting fundraiser runs now through 12/22—don’t miss out!

It’s Easy to Contribute:

  1. Place your order using this LINK
  2. 25% of your purchase will be donated directly to the TEMS PTO.
  3. Redeem your tickets at any Regal location and enjoy the show!

Tickets can be redeemed at the theatre box office, concessions counter, or kiosk. May also be redeemed via the Regal app or at REGmovies.com.

We are calling all Bulldogs to gather your gently used middle school and young adult level books for the 2024 TEMS Book Swap. You can drop off your books in bins at the front and back entrances and students will have the opportunity to "shop" for books to take home and read. There is no cost! This is a great opportunity to clean out your bookshelves and find new books to read -- just in time for winter break!

Drop off dates: Monday, 11/18 - Tuesday, 12/10

Book Swap Browsing days: during lunch and activity December 11, 12, and 13.

We need volunteers to help sort the books on Tuesday, 12/10 and to supervise the Book Swap during lunch and activity periods on 12/11- 12/13. Volunteers must have clearances on file with the district. If you are able to help, please sign up here TEMS: Book Swap Volunteers! (signupgenius.com) or contact Kerry Reed at kerrymcnabbreed@gmail.com or Jess Melniczak at jmelniczak@gmail.com.

CARE (Child Assistance Resources & Education)

If your child is having any trouble either in school or at home, our CARE (Child Assistance Resources & Education) team is here to help. The CARE team consists of a principal, counselors, nurse, school psychologist, mental health specialist, classroom teachers and community agency staff.  The team works to identify issues which pose a barrier to a students’ learning and school success.  If you or someone else notices your student is struggling in an academic, behavior, or social-emotional area of development, you can ask the CARE team to help.

Teachers, parents and students who observe concerning behavior in a student are encouraged to reach out to a CARE team member and submit a referral. Referrals can also be made using this link.  All referrals are confidential and once one has been made, the team will work together to gather information, consult with the parent and student and make recommendations for additional support.
