PTO Kicks off 2024-2025 Preparations

Thanks to everyone for joining us at the PTO Meet & Greet on April 18!  It was wonderful meeting new parents, and we look forward to volunteering alongside you in the future!

Per the TEMS PTO By-Laws, we are forming a Nominating Committee to build the slate of 2024-2025 Executive Officers.  The vote for Officers will be held at the PTO meeting on May 16.  The Nominating Committee includes members of the current Executive Committee and one PTO member.  If you are interested in joining the Nominating Committee, please contact Executive Vice President Becky Ormsbee at temspto@gmail.com by Wednesday, April 24. If we have several PTO members who express an interest in serving on the Nominating Committee, we will choose one individual to participate through a randomized selection process.

The Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for open 2024-2025 Executive Officer positions.  There are several Executive Officer positions that complete their term at the end of the 2023-2024 year.  These include:

  • Executive Vice President (1 year term, which then leads into President the 2nd year)
  • Secretary (2 year term)
  • Assistant Treasurer (1 year term with desire to lead to Treasurer at end of term)
  • VP Fundraising (2 year term)

If you are interested in nominating yourself or someone else for one of these Officer positions, please contact Executive Vice President Becky Ormsbee at temspto@gmail.com by Wednesday, April 24.

Student council events

On Friday, May 3rd there will be a 5th and 6th grade Social Event.  It will run from 3:15-5:00 and will be held in the Large gyms and fields on the side of the school. Ticket sale started 4/18 and are available before school by the large gym, and during 5/6 grade lunches.

Green Initiative

In the spirit of Earth Day, let’s consider our children’s long-term welfare by living our lives a bit more “green”- that is, reducing our waste and carbon footprint – so that the earth is a great place to be for our kids and grandkids.    This doesn't have to be a daunting task that means sweeping life-changes... click on this LINK for 15 Easy Ways to Be Green in 2024

Recycling drop-off are available at TEMS all year!  Bins are located in the main lobby upon entry to the school. We will continue to collect writing instruments (no wooden pencils or crayons please), clean plastic bags, printer cartridges and dental products (toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes, empty floss rolls) in the bins in the front lobby.  Click on this link for more details.

Brought to you by the TESD Green Team. To learn more or get involved, please contact: Tracy at tracyteeselink@aol.com, Val at valcheng@gmail.com or Gaby at gabysnyder@yahoo.com

Sneakers Recycling

Along with the recycling bins that the PTO provides, we also have a Conestoga HS group that collects used sneakers. Bins for new, used and gently used sneakers are available in the TEMS lobby.

Child Assistance Resources & Education

If your child is having any trouble either in school or at home, our CARE (Child Assistance Resources & Education) team is here to help. The CARE team consists of a principal, counselors, nurse, school psychologist, mental health specialist, classroom teachers and community agency staff.  The team works to identify issues which pose a barrier to a students’ learning and school success.  If you or someone else notices your student is struggling in an academic, behavior, or social-emotional area of development, you can ask the CARE team to help.

Teachers, parents and students who observe concerning behavior in a student are encouraged to reach out to a CARE team member and submit a referral. Referrals can also be made using this link.  All referrals are confidential and once one has been made, the team will work together to gather information, consult with the parent and student and make recommendations for additional support.

School store needs YOU!

We're looking for parents to staff the School Store! The School Store is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (during all the lunch periods) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There will be two volunteers signed up for each day. The School Store is a great way to see your student(s) in action and support the school.

Background clearance is needed for volunteering for the school store. Here is a link on details regarding clearance (Volunteer Background Clearance).
