Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS)

TESD is taking part in the 2023 Pennsylvania Youth Survey, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) and the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Drug and Alcohol programs. TESD 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 12th grade students have participated in this survey since the early 2000s. The survey asks questions about school climate, mental health, violence, bullying, and substance use.

Additional information about the survey from PCCD is available at this  link. You can request a list of the survey questions by visiting this link:  https://www.episcenter.psu.edu/index.php/paysquestion

You may view the results of the 2021 survey for TESD students here.

The information that the District receives from the survey will assist the District and community partners in working to promote mental health and prevent substance use and other problem behaviors. TESD want to ensure that all parents and caregivers are notified that the survey is being conducted as well as provide families with as much information about the survey as possible.

The survey will take place on Wednesday, October 11 during the school day. If you are the parent of a 6th and/or 8th grade student, please look for email communication from the school regarding this survey. This email will provide additional information and options to take the survey (for 6th graders) or to opt-out of the survey (for 8th graders).

ERB Testing

Each year as part of T/E's assessment programstudents in grades 6 and 8 participate in the Comprehensive Testing Program published by the Educational Record Bureau (ERB). ERB testing will take place Tuesday, October 10th through Thursday, October 12th.

Teachers will work with students to familiarize them with the testing process and to make the experience as comfortable as possible. If you have a child in grade 6th or 8th you should have already received further information on this from Assistant Principal, Sr. Orlando Carvajal. Please reach out to him if you have any questions.

Each of us can make a difference by reducing, reusing, and recycling materials throughout our communities and encouraging our neighbors (and our kids) to do the same.

TEMS Recycling Program

Recycling drop-off will be available at TEMS all year!  Bins are located in the main lobby upon entry to the school. We will continue to collect writing instruments (no wooden pencils or crayons please), clean plastic bags, printer cartridges and dental products (toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes, empty floss rolls) in the bins in the front lobby.  Click on this link for more details.

Brought to you by the TESD Green Team. To learn more or get involved, please contact: Tracy at tracyteeselink@aol.com, Val at valcheng@gmail.com or Gaby at gabysnyder@yahoo.com

Sneakers Recycling

Along with the recycling bins that the PTO provides, we also have a Conestoga HS group that collects used sneakers. Bins for new, used and gently used sneakers are available in the TEMS lobby. Read details of the sneaker recycling drive in the community news section.

Important reminders from the nurses!

-Please ensure that your students are eating breakfast or grabbing a granola bar prior to coming to school.  Breakfast is available each day at no cost in the cafeteria for students. The nurse’s office is now accepting donations of barrels of pretzels or nut free animal crackers.

-If your student reaches out to you during school hours via email or text, please instruct them to visit the nurse's office. Nurses will contact you if your student truly needs to go home. Feel free to call the nurse’s office to inquire about your students if you are worried about them. We are happy to call them down to check on them.

-Please note that all concussions or injuries with notes from doctor require a FINAL clearance notice per PA State Law.

Sneaker Drive Fundraiser for the Conestoga Cross Country and Track & Field teams!!

CHS gotsneakers is holding a sneaker drive fundraiser from September 28th till June 6th with biweekly pickups to raise money for Conestoga Cross Country and Track & Field teams. gotsneakers has developed a unique fundraising program that asks communities to reach into their closets, not their pockets!

We will be collecting new, used, or gently worn sneakers through the previously stated dates. This sneaker recycling program helps keeps sneakers out of landfills, which has harmful effects on our environment and helps organizations like ours raise much-needed funds. The program is truly a win – win! Learn more about gotsneakers by visiting our website at www.gotsneakers.com.
